Prospect Spotlight: Londan Coleman (2020)
A top prospect in Nevada’s class of 2020, 6-foot-4 shooting guard Londan Coleman has a big junior year ahead of him, and a new team to display his talents with.
Last season, Coleman was playing at Southern Nevada charter school, SLAM. This season he’ll join Silverado.
The Skyhawks are getting one of the state’s best guards; a passionate player with a knack for scoring at the rim.
“My strength as a player is that I always bring that fire to the game. I’m a strong player, I can attack the basket, I can shoot the mid-range. And I try and look for open players and try and help my teammates out as much as I can,” said Coleman.
Coleman said he made the switch from SLAM Academy to Silverado because he wanted a fresh start basketball-wise.
“SLAM was a good school for academics but not as much basketball-wise. I needed a new start for basketball and SLAM wasn’t going to be it, so I knew Silverado would be a good school for me,” said Coleman.
“Going into Silverado, I’ll have a big role, I’ll be one of the starting five. And a couple of my teammates from Punishers are on that team, so it’ll be a good year.”
Those couple of teammates are Martel Williams and Tre’Von Martin. The three make up a very strong class of 2020 trio, on both the Las Vegas Punishers and the Skyhawks.
“Our Punishers coach Coach James is fantastic as a coach and a leader and a role model. He pushes us to do good things on and off the court,” said Coleman. “We work hard, defense is the main part of our game. My role is to attack and talk, and get the guys moving and doing anything I can to help the team win.”
And with one last July live period weekend going down this weekend, Coleman is hoping to see his stock rise a bit.
“July has been going really good, we’ve been around a lot of college coaches and we’ve been performing on big stages,” said Coleman. “Recruitment is going good, I’ve just got interest right now from Eastern Washington. I’m just taking my time and trusting the process.”
