HARDWOOD: Kansas’ Stock Risers (PGs)
The Hardwood Classic wrapped up action on Sunday with several standout performances taking place in the final stages of the tournament.
Here, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several in-state players who stood out throughout the event.
2 — Kobe Sifford, G, 2019, Basehor-Linwood, MoKan Select (pictured)
Sifford is a tough point guard and a capable leader in the backcourt who handles the ball well and rarely makes mistakes. He can get to the basket and make plays off the bounce and is a capable shooter from the 3-point line.
6 — Willie Dotson, 5’10, PG, 2020, Lawrence, Primetime Ballerz
Like most of the Primetime Ballerz, Dotson plays with passion and brings energy and competitiveness to the floor every game. He is a solid ball handler and leader and showed throughout the weekend he can run the point or put points on the board with a consistent outside shooting stroke or taking the ball to the basket.
10 — Jackie Johnson, 5’11, PG, 2021, Wichita, MoKan Elite
Johnson joined MoKan Elite’s 15U squad for the July period and has made an immediate impact. He is a creative ball handler, extremely difficult for opposing teams to keep out of the lane and has the ability to create for himself or others off dribble penetration. Johnson has range well out beyond the 3-point arc and is dynamic in the open floor where he is especially dangerous. He’s among the state’s premier players in the 2021 class.
21 — Lonell Lane, 6’0, PG, 2021, Harmon, MoKan Elite
Lane is listed at 6’0, but plays much bigger than his listed height as he combines good size and strength with terrific athleticism. He is at his best in attack mode where teams struggle to keep him out of the paint and is a creative finisher in traffic.
33 — Zachary Schwinn, 5’7, PF, Maur Hill-Mount Academy, Kansas Cagers
Schwinn continues to impress the offseason with the Kansas Cagers as one of their most consistent performers. He is a solid ball handler who rarely makes mistakes and is a tough, gritty defensive player who doesn’t back down despite his size. Offensively, he is a knock down shooter and a crafty scorer.
