HARDWOOD: Kansas’ Most Versatile
The Hardwood Classic wrapped up action on Sunday with several standout performances taking place in the final stages of the tournament.
Here, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several in-state players who stood out throughout the event.
33 — Jarin Koehler, 6’6, F, 2019, El Dorado, River City Hoops (pictured)
Koehler has a good inside-out skill set and showed the ability to handle the ball a little, shoot from the outside and knock down free throws during this weekend’s action. He also has the ability to post up, get big on the block and look to score in the paint.
7 — Gabe Fisher. 6’5, F, 2019, Wichita, MoKan Select
Fisher is a strong forward who likes to bang in the paint, get on the boards and does a good job defending opposing interior players. Coming off a standout season at Collegiate, Fisher is a capable shooter from distance and can help stretch the floor with his outside touch, proving to be a tough match-up for most opponents.
3 — Zac Genilo, 6’5, G/F, 2019, St. Thomas Aquinas, KC Spurs Silver
A consummate inside-out performer, Genilo is comfortable all over the floor, whether it’s on the perimeter handling the ball and shooting the 3, getting on the block and scoring in the low post or playing at the high post and teaming up with 2019 big man Ethan Vlasic in high-low action, Genilo brings a unique brand of versatility to the floor.
4 — Braijion Barnes, 6’5, F, 2019, KC Piper, Team KC
Barnes is a terrific athlete with good size who makes his mark as a defender. He is capable of defending guards or bigs and is comfortable in a glue-guy type of a role. He does the little things at a high level whether it’s moving without the ball, defending or getting on the boards.
23 — Jaden Remington, 6’5, G/F, 2019, Lansing, Drive5 17U
Remington has good size for a wing at 6’5 and brings good athleticism and agility to the court. He is at his best attacking the basket, has a quick first step and is a good finisher in traffic. He runs the floor well in transition and did a good job battling opponents at the defensive end of the floor.
