Recruiting Report: Ayan Teel (2019)
Ayan Teel has been one of the biggest stock risers in the local 2019 class this spring. He is expected to see a major role increase for his senior season at Bishop O’Connell, and we saw a glimpse of that on Thursday night at the Capitol Hoops Summer League, where he recorded 9 points and 8 assists in a win over Good Counsel. Teel spoke to Prep Hoops after the game about his recruitment among other topics.
PH: Which schools would you say are most active in your recruitment?
AT: “I’d say definitely Southern Utah, Lehigh, and I’ve been talking to Holy Cross a lot. American has been reaching out to me recently a little bit.”
PH: What type of relationship do you have with Southern Utah?
AT: “Coach Pompey, that’s my guy. He was the first person from the coaching staff to reach out to me. It was great talking to him. Very welcoming. Loves my game. Great personality over there. Hopefully I can go over there and visit soon.”
PH: What do you think has been the most improved part of your overall game?
AT: “I’d say the most improved part of my game is limiting turnovers, and trying to rack up those assists. Being composed on the court and patient. Running my offense.”
PH: What’s your role going to be like this season?
AT: “My role this season is definitely going to be a primary ball handler. A leader on and off the court for my team”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
AT: “I feel like I can definitely bring leadership to a college program. The ability to score at all three levels and to create for my teammates.”
