Jayhawk Invitational Recap (Regional Standouts)
Prep Hoops Missouri spent the first couple of days at the Jayhawk Invitational in Overland Park, KS. While the majority of my coverage will be on the kids from the state of Missouri, there were many talented kids from the region outside of the Show-Me State who put in work. Here are a few of those kids:
Zach Harvey 6’4″ KC Run GMC 17U (Topeka, KS): A smooth combo guard with size and the ability to do it all with the ball in his hands. One minute, he’s pushing the ball and playing with pace, but he can also change directions and keep defenders off balance. He is an explosive performer in transition, but he is also a weapon in the half court with his ability to knock down 3-pointers and beat defenders off the dribble.
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl 6’9″ KC Run GMC 17U (Bishop Miege, KS): A tremendous power forward prospect who is a fierce competitor around the basket, but he is also a poised player with smooth moves and excellent footwork. He has a tremendous variety of post moves in the lane with the ability to score with both hands. He runs the court hard and dunks with authority in traffic at the rim. He has had his choice of high-major suitors for the past three years.
Jonathan Davis 6’5″ Wisconsin Playground Warriors 16U: (Lacrosse, WI): An impressive wing player who already has the size and the body of a college player despite being only 16 years old. His game is also well developed with his ability to handle the ball and attack the rim and score with ease in the lane.
Spencer Jones 6’5″ KC Spurs Black 17U (Bishop Miege, KS): An excellent wing player who knows how to score in a variety of ways. He can score on drives at different angles while using crafty moves and his size. He moves well without the basketball and can knock down pull up jumpers and 3-pointers. He has a knack for putting the ball in the basket while making it look rather easy.
Terrance Thompson 6’8″ Wisconsin Playground Warriors 16U (Lacrosse, WI): An athletic young power forward who did some grown man stuff around the basket. He has a combination of size, strength and explosiveness which makes him a force around the basket. He dunks with authority and collects block shots in numbers.
