Phenom Challenge Live : Stock Risers
Prep Hoops SC takes a look at a Stock Riser in 3 classes from this weekend in Spartanburg, SC. The Phenom Challenge Live event was held at the Upward Center.
Ishan White (2019) – Berkeley HS (Moncks Corner) – TMP 17U
White walked away having a great weekend for the Charleston based TMP team. White 6’6 really excels in the transition game and likes to the stalk the baseline. UNC-Asheville, Winthrop, North Carolina A&T, South Carolina State, Presbyterian and Oklahoma State all offered White since his play last weekend.
White can shoot the 10-12 foot mid-range jumper but really likes to get out and run. White averaged 10.2 ppg and 9.7 rebounds this past season for the Stags. Prep Hoops and Swanny’s Roundball Review a few years back and last summer White played a week or 2 with TMP and then decided to stay around and play with a local team.
White has hopefully seen the light at the end of the tunnel and the progress he has made on the hardwood.
Case Roach (2020) – Travelers Rest HS – Upward Stars Upstate Silver 16U (pictured on front)
Roach has grown since last season. Roach is constantly all over the floor and on the floor. Roach is in the middle of every loose ball situation. Roach 6’4 plays with toughness and for sure plays with a lot of passion. Roach is a deceptive athlete that just stuffs the stat sheet. Roach played last season with GSP Unified.
Roach averaged 8.7 ppg and 4.4 rebounds last season for the (19-6) Devil Dogs.
Silas Christie (2021) – Cardinal Newman – Upward Stars Columbia 16U
Christie was a pleasant surprise today. This was the 1st time seeing Christie play basketball. Christie playing up a age group really works around the cup and stays active on the floor. Christie hit some mid-range jumpers and really felt at ease on the floor and not intimidated for his age.
Christie recently qualified for the State Track Meet in the Triple Jump.
