Recruiting Report: Myles Baker (2019)
Whitney Young 2019 shooting guard Myles Baker ranks among the best junior prospects in the state of Illinois. The smooth wing has the ability to score in multiple ways and has shown that throughout this season being the Dolphins second leading scorer on the year. We spoke with Baker about his junior season at Whitney Young.
“Coming off last season winning state I had a smaller role, but this year I was excited to accept the challenge of a bigger role. That role includes being the second leading scorer and guarding the best player on the other team and be a great teammate and leader.”
He spoke about where he has elevated his game this year.
“I have continued to work on my shot off the dribble and catch and shoot. I have learned to work off the ball to find my spots on the floor. On ball defense was a major improvement.”
Baker previewed his upcoming summer on the circuit.
“I’ll be playing with Chicago Select again. I would like to showcase that I elevated my game to the next level and attract some coach’s attention.”
Where do things stand with recruiting?
St. Louis contacts me about every week. Dayton reaches out and tells me what they want me to improve on. Xavier has come to my games and talked to me. South Dakota started showing interest. They call a lot. Montana contacts me a lot as well.”
He holds one offer at this time from St. Louis University.
“I haven’t taken a visit yet, but I like how the coaches reach out as much as they can.”
Baker is the #8 overall prospect in the 2019 class and #2 shooting guard.
