Recruiting Report: Austin Trice (JUCO)
Wabash Valley CC sophomore power forward Austin Trice is one of the premier rebounders in the country on the junior college level. His athleticism and ability to change the game on both ends with his energy jumps off the floor. He has multiple high-major programs pursuing him. We caught up with Trice to get the latest.
“Right now I’m setting up visits with multiple schools. Oklahoma and LSU have been showing a lot of interest and I still have offers from Kansas State, South Florida, Illinois, Washington State, and New Mexico.”
What are his plans for visits?
“I’m not 100% sure yet, but I have 4 visits left and plan on using all of them.”
One school that he will visit March 23 is Washington State. He broke down what he likes about the Pac 12 school.
“Great conference. Their head coach feels as if I can be a major impact to their program and also says there’s major minutes to be played in my position.”
Oklahoma is expected to be in Monday to see him at Wabash. He will go to Norman for an offical April 13. The Sooners and LSU have been making a move in his recruitment. He spoke about those two programs.
“It’s been great. LSU being in the SEC and Oklahoma being in the Big 12 is a major opportunity and would be an honor to play for either one of their programs.”
He has visited in state Illinois twice so far unofficially. Trice updated us on where things stand with the Illini.
“Things are still solid. My offer is still there and I plan on taking an official. I love the way the play and I love the coaching staff. Coach Underwood is going to have a major impact on the program.”
Kansas State is also a school that is in the mix for his services and has extended an offer.
“Kansas State is 4th in the Big 12 conference they are a young fast team and coach Weber feels as if I could be a positive impact to there program.”
