Prospect Watch: Maleeck Harden (2019)
Moorhead wing Maleeck Harden made a good name for himself last 16u season with ECI and now he’s made a name for himself scoring 27 in a big Spuds win over St. Cloud Tech last night in the first round of the playoffs.
“Things have been well for me and my teammates at Moorhead we are just practicing hard and getting better each and every day,” Harden said.
Last night’s win over Tech gives the Spuds 12 wins on the season and now they face Buffalo for a chance to play for state. Both Moorhead and Buffalo put together upset wins last night and now Harden is thinking big.
“We had our last game of the regular at Sartell and we won, and for us it was a game that prepared us for playoff time,” Harden said. “We have a lot of hard workers and the ability to play hard and scare and potentially upset some teams come sections.”
Harden is handling several roles for the Spuds each night including being a leader.
“I’ve been more of a leader this year by far being a captain,” Harden said. “Knowing that each night and every practice I need to prepare me and my team to get better. I have gotten a lot stronger than last year which gives me a lot more confidence in my ability to score the ball and make plays on the defensive end as well.”
Harden is scoring 15 a game with 6.7 rebounds a night.
