Senior Sunday: Recruiting Updates
Each Sunday in the winter we will be providing updates on a group of unsigned seniors from a variety of college levels and different parts of the state. Check out our latest Senior Sunday: Recruiting Updates!
Jalen Shaw (Larkin)
It is still very early in the process for the top JUCO prospect available in the Illinois 2018 class. The center will have plenty of options at the junior college level with his size and potential on both ends of the floor. We are hearing right now Vincennes and Indian Hills have made the biggest early push, but there is a long way to go. Shaw should be one of the most coveted junior college post recruits in the Midwest this spring.
Seth Kizer (Limestone)
Kizer can stretch the floor with his perimeter shooting as a face up four man with some athleticism. Quick release and shoots it with confidence. Mixes it up inside on occasion and is a solid rebounder. Garnering D3 and NAIA looks from St. Ambrose, Olivet Nazarene, North Central, Eureka, MacMurray, Columbia, Loras, and Illinois Wesleyan per his travel team coach Gavin Sullivan with the Illinois Irish. He has visited Olivet Nazarene, Loras, Illinois Wesleyan, and Columbia.
Joey Saracco (Bolingbrook)
Saracco is a 6’7” post with a good frame and knows his role on the team. Rebound, play defense, and when they pass you the ball in the paint put it in. Saracco has soft hands and touch around the hoop. Efficient player with his touches. Area rounder snatching anything near him. He tells us that Parkland College is the most interested at this stage. Olney Central and North Central are also recruiting the post. He plans on visiting several of them after the season.
David Forrest (North Lawndale)
Forrest is a physical guard with a thick upper body where he can overpower weaker defenders. Very powerful driving to the hoop finishing with layups and runners. Rebounds well for a guard. Right now he is hearing mainly from Triton and Morton College. Forrest plans on playing on the circuit this spring to get more looks.
Luke Nauman (St. Ignatius)
Nauman is an undersized power forward that plays bigger than his height. Strong and physical frame. He is effective on the offensive end getting on the glass for put backs. Quick to the boards for second chance opportunities. Plays with a ton of toughness inside. He tells us that he has narrowed his decision down to John Carroll, DePauw, and Loras. Nauman has already visited each of their schools. He is thinking about going back to John Carroll for another visit.
Dontia Johnson (Romeoville)
This athletic 6’6” power forward is a projectable four man with athleticism and developmental upside. He just hasn’t put it all together yet from a consistency standpoint. He has offers from Kentucky State and Urbana State. South Carolina Upstate has been talking with him a lot. He was supposed to visit Kentucky State last weekend, but was cancelled because of weather. They are working on rescheduling a date. Johnson is also working on a date to see South Carolina Upstate.
Rayquon Fuller (Bloomington)
Fuller has impressed with his toughness, energy, and athleticism this season. He is a combo forward at 6’5” that gets after it on the offensive glass. Quick second jump. Also powerful finishing inside on quick drives down the lane. Fuller tells us that he has not heard from any schools. He sits at #172 in the senior class and should be considered by D2 junior colleges and other small schools.
