Sectional: Arsenal Tech vs. Warren Central
Arsenal Tech gave all they had to #1 Warren Central and looked like they could take a bit of momentum in the first quarter but Warren Central stung together a few baskets to tie it at the end of the first quarter. After that, Warren Central broke it open going forward.
Leading 25-18 after halftime, Warren Central cruised in the second half and held Tech to five points in the third quarter. Warren Central led a very balanced attack, as they have all year, with the leading scorer scoring just 12 points in the win. Warren Central survived an early scare to move to face North Central after a 57-34 win.
Best Offensive Player: Dean Tate (Warren Central)
Tate was the leading scorer in the game which was a little odd since he only had 12 points. But, he was the best offensive player for Warren Central as he made a few threes and was able to blow by guys and get to the rim. Tate isn’t the biggest guy on the court but you can’t leave him open because he will bury a three if you give him space. He also had a nice end-to-end drive that he finished which was really nice.
Best Defensive Player: David Bell (Warren Central)
Bell was really good defensively in this one gaining two steals but the best part was what didn’t show up in the box score. Every trip down the court Bell was in the offensive player’s face and made them throw bad passes. He was really solid all game long terrorizing the Tech offense. I almost put the entire Warren Central defense here though since they only allowed 34 points, 12 of which came from offensive putbacks.
Biggest Surprise: Tech’s never give up attitude
While there weren’t many surprises in this one, since Warren pretty much cruised, Tech did show a lot of heart and they never gave up. They were aggressive and they were driving to the basket. If a guy was remotely open, he was going to shoot the shot. I give a lot of credit to the effort of Tech, I don’t think Warren Central thought it was going to be close, even for just a quarter.
Top Scorers:
Dean Tate (Warren Central) – 12 points
Jayden Henderson (Tech) – 10 points
