Recruiting Report: Shon Robinson (2020)
Shon Robinson would have been the top ranked post in the state of Illinois in the 2020 class and a top 5 overall prospect. Robinson transferred from Morgan Park to Higley (AZ) before the start of his sophomore season. He hardly played during his freshman season, but shined in camp settings and flashed ability with the Mac Irvin Fire on the circuit. He is a projectable post with size, skill, and athleticism. Robinson is a prospect that left with high-major upside and he started to realize that potential while in Arizona. We caught up with Robinson to see how his season is going and the transition out west.
“Transition has been great. Really loving the weather and the environment. I also have been playing well.”
Robinson spoke about the areas in his game he has improved the most as a sophomore.
“I’ve seen the most growth in my shot and post moves.”
Recruiting is picking up for the sophomore big man as well.
“I’ve picked up a couple of offers. DePaul, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Florida State, Arizona State, UTEP, Grand Canyon, and Illinois.”
Any schools standing out right now?
“ASU. I like the atmosphere and the coaches. The way they run their team. They play fast and actually let their players play.”
He has been on several unofficial visits.
“UTEP, Arizona State, Grand Canyon, and New Mexico State.”
What stood out about Grand Canyon on that visit?
“They also have a great atmosphere and I like their school programs.”
Illinois recently jumped in with an offer to the talented post.
“I haven’t put much through into their program. I’m still really excited I got the offer.”
Look for Robinson to have a big spring and summer on the travel team circuit and emerge as one of the more intriguing 2020 posts on the west coast.
