Recruiting Report: Kevin Caldwell (2018)
Alton 2018 Kevin Caldwell is a 6’0” senior point guard that is strongly built. He pushes the tempo and has a burst getting to the hoop off the bounce. Consistently gets to the rim where he finishes with acrobatic finishes at the hoop. Quality mid-range jumper that he hits pulling up at a high clip. Rebounds well for a lead guard and as a passer is most effective kicking to shooters off dribble penetration. Solid D2 prospect that is being under recruited.
He chatted senior season and how he has been playing.
“I have been playing pretty good this season. I am being more of a spoken leader on the court. That is what you need out of a lead guard. I am using my experience and trying to help my teammates on the court.”
Where has his game elevated the most this year?
“My mid-range game has improved. I am trying to score at all three levels and shoot more floaters and not go all the way in with some big guys down there. Try to pick my spots better and take care of the ball.”
He told us what he can bring to a college program.
“I can bring a work ethic and a winning attitude. A great teammate and someone who likes to see my teammates do well.”
University of Mary is the only D2 school to show significant interest.
“They are a pretty good program. They play in the same conference as Carlos Anderson’s school Minnesota State. They have been telling me they like my game and the way I play. That is a school I am very interested in.”
What will he be looking for in a school?
“A good atmosphere and good people. Not so much location. I am not really worried about that. I just want to go play basketball for a good team and coach.”
