2018 Lower State Championships Top Performers
Prep Hoops takes a look at the 2018 players that stood out this weekend in the Lower State Championships in Florence.
Winston Hill – Irmo
Hill controlled the paint for the Yellow Jackets last night and scored 12 points. Hill can play with his back to the basket and doesn’t mind playing with contact. Hill finished over his right shoulder a few times last night.
Robert Braswell – Blythewood
Braswell a legit 6’9 now can really shoot the ball on the perimeter. Braswell knocked down several 3 pointers in the game for the Bengals. Braswell will visit Creighton and Oklahoma State in the near future according to Head Coach Zeke Washington.
Jonathan Breeland – Blythewood
Breeland scored just 8 points but really got in to the lane when he had the opportunity tonight. Breeland has a good frame at the guard spot and score the ball from the mid-range. Breeland played this past summer with the South Carolina Tigers 17.
Dijon Goss – Carvers Bay
Goss 6’4 finished the day with 17 points in leading the Bears to the Class 2A State Championship Game this coming Friday. Goss excelled in transition and handled the rock in transition. Goss will need to entertain junior college options for next season.
Rashane Duncan – Wade Hampton (Hampton) (pictured on front)
Duncan 6’9 had hardly any touches in the paint today. Prep Hoops had him 0-2 from the floor. Duncan recorded a interesting stat line 0 points, 13 rebounds and 6 blocks. Duncan alters and contests everything it seems on the defensive end of the floor. Duncan runs the floor very well. Duncan has a great wingspan. I first saw him play as a freshman at nearby Estill HS in the Sweet 16 tourney in Orangeburg, SC.
Zack Foulks – A.C. Flora
Foulks will take his talents next season to Lees Mcrae (NC) (NCAA D2).
Alex Caldwell – Wilson (Florence)
Caldwell makes the engine run for the Tigers. Caldwell will play at Southeast Missouri State University next season for Head Coach Rick Ray. Caldwell played AAU ball with Duncan on Upward Stars Southeast 2018. Caldwell has the Tigers in the Class 4A State Championship vs Ridge View this coming Saturday.
Hasuan Rivers – Irmo
Rivers made the biggest shot of his life and helped the Yellow Jackets move onto the Class 5A State Championship Game this coming Friday vs Dorman. Rivers 6’3 off guard hit some three pointers earlier in the game. Rivers has good size at the guard position. Rivers always was in position and ready to shoot the ball if needed.
