Prospect Spotlight: Chandler Dean (2018)
In August, Jordan’s 6-foot-5 wing Chandler Dean suffered a significant injury, dislocating his elbow and breaking his forearm.
And though he’s been back in action since the beginning of the season, the good-sized guard is still trying to get back to 100 percent.
“I’m still trying to get back to where I was, but my mid-range is pretty good and I like to attack the basket quite a bit. I consider myself to a be a very unselfish player,” said Dean.
“Team-wise we started out not great, and I started off playing alright, but I’ve been inconsistent. And I was getting into a lot of foul trouble early in the season because I was out of shape.”
But as time passes, Dean continues to inch back to full-strength; and as he improves, so does the team.
“We’re in the middle of a winning streak now, and we’re looking pretty good. I’ve been hesitating a little bit, just scared I’d get hurt again. So, I just need to get my confidence back,” said Dean.
With the rest of his senior year still ahead of him, Dean is not only looking forward to being back at 100 percent. But he’s hoping to see his recruitment continue to spike.
“I have talked to a couple coaches, I’ve talked to NIACC, a JuCo in Iowa. I’ve talked to Centralia a little bit, they came to an open gym. Other that that my AAU coach told me George Fox in Oregon has been asking about me,” said Dean.
“I want to play any level of college, wherever I’m able to go, any scholarship is fine. I’ll be going to a lot of showcases in March, and I just want to get out there and people what I can do.”
