Player Spotlight: Junub Char
For most students their senior year of high school is one of the easiest years of high school, they coast through classes, pick a college, and after its all said and done they can remember the year as a smooth year filled with easy days and plenty of naps. Well this was far from the case for Village Christian Senior Guard Junub Char , as he has had a challenging season but things are beginning to come together for him at the right time. Prior to the season he returned to Nebraska which caused him to miss part of the season , also he was ailed with two different injuries which slowed him down but now he’s healthy and that was on display when he went for 30 points recently against Cape Fear Christian.
Personally the first time I saw Junub play was during preseason open gyms at Village Christian , he was a player that automatically got my attention with his ability as soon as things got started. He’s 6’3 with a gift for scoring the ball and has NBA range on his shot, he’s the type of player that you have to defend as soon as he crosses half court. His ability to: break down the defense off the dribble , find teammates , and make plays above the rim , is the reason why college coaches at the D1 level have already offered and are vying for him to join their program.
What you have to like the most about Junub is his personality , he is a player that has fun on the court and really enjoys playing the game of basketball. Even when he first returned and was unable to play , he was the first player off the bench and constantly cheering on his teammates. This type of attitude is what will help him be very successful at the next level, he is always engaged and puts the team before himself. Currently he holds offers from: Umass, Rutgers, Saint Louis, Dayton and VCU with interest from numerous other programs.
