Hot & Cold: Week 8
This season, we are going to recap each week with a look at those teams that are playing well and those that aren’t so much. We breakdown our Hot 5 and Cold 5 each week looking into why those teams are making our list on either end. Now, our Hot and Cold teams of the week.
Hot 5:
Team: |
Wins |
Westview (11-0) |
East Noble, Hamilton |
Pendleton Heights (7-4) |
Anderson, Alexandria, Frankton |
Brownsburg (10-2) |
Danville, Plainfield, Avon |
Central Catholic (8-3) |
Northwestern, McCutcheon, Rensselaer Central |
Warren Central (10-0) |
Lawrence North, Hamilton Southeastern |
Breakdown: Over the last week, not teams have done better than these five. Westview leads it off with a big win over previous undefeated East Noble. They also picked up a very easy Hamilton win to move to 11-0, keeping their undefeated record in tact against one of the best teams on their schedule. Pendleton Heights is back on track with a trio of wins to move ahead of .500 as they not one knocked off Frankton but also won the Madison County Tournament. Brownsburg is quietly having a great year as they are now 10-2 with three wins and a Hendricks County Championship. Central Catholic also picked up three wins with the best of the bunch being a massive win over McCutcheon. Warren Central has the best pair of wins all week as they knocked off two 4A Top 10 teams in Lawrence North and Hamilton Southeastern.
Cold 5:
Team: |
Losses |
Wins |
Castle (9-5) |
Owensboro (KY), Ev. Memorial |
Tell City |
Indianapolis Tindley (10-4) |
University, Brebeuf Jesuit |
|
Hamilton Southeastern (11-2) |
Warren Central, Lawrence Central |
|
Monrovia (8-4) |
Cardinal Ritter, Beech Grove |
|
Greensburg (10-3) |
Connersville, Shelbyville |
Breakdown: As for some of the teams with a bad week last week, we have to start with Castle who dropped games to Owensboro (KY) and Evansville Memorial. They did get a win in between from Tell City but this is a team heading the wrong direction right now. Tindley also dropped a pair of games to University and Brebeuf Jesuit. Both of these games were winnable ones for them. Hamilton Southeastern had a tough week with losses against Warren Central and Lawrence Central. Neither should be considered bad losses but you would have liked to split these games at worst. Monrovia had a chance to continue their really great season but couldn’t find a way to get past either Cardinal Ritter or Beech Grove. Beech Grove continues to give teams really tough games. Greensburg also dropped a pair of games. Connersville and Shelbyville are both really solid teams but this is like with Tindley where they were definitely winnable games and they couldn’t even get one win.
