5 Takeaways : Dillon vs Waccamaw
The Dillon Wildcats made the 2 hour drive down to Pawley’s Island to take on the host Waccamaw Warriors. The Wildcats jumped out to a comfortable 31-18 halftime lead.
The Warriors battled back under the play of Connor Heimberger. Heimberger a left-handed guard scored 18 points while connecting on 4 three pointers. The Warriors trailed 56-43 with 4:32 left in the game to battle back and lose 64-60 in the end.
MVP : Ty’shaun Richardson (2019) Waccamaw
Richardson plays in the back court for the Warriors. Richardson really excels attacking the rack and setting up his teammates while penetrating and kicking. Richardson finished the game with 14 points in the loss.
Signed and Sealed : Tyquan Porter (2018) Dillon
Porter a left-handed wing scored a quiet 7 points for the Wildcats in the victory. Porter will take his skills to Georgia Military College (JUCO) to play football next season. Porter played Defensive Back / Wide Receiver for the 3-A State Champs this season. Porter recorded 11 interceptions this past season.
Freshman Watch : Zy’Aire Charles (2021) Dillon (pictured on front)
Charles is a very poised young man in the back court for the Wildcats. Charles plays very deliberate on the floor and can knock down 3 pointers when given the look. Charles must work harder on the defensive end of the floor. Charles finished the game with 15 points in the win.
Blue Collar : Danari Ladson (2020) Dillon
Ladson came off the bench for the Wildcats and threw his body around in the paint. Ladson 6’4 plays with his back to the basket and doesn’t mind drawing contact down low. Ladson fouled out with 42.9 seconds left in the game after scoring 9 points.
Loose Ends :
Jalian Williams (2018) 6’0 guard is built like a tank since he plays football for the Wildcats. Williams finished the season at 237 carries – 1,688 yards and 15 touchdowns for the 3-A State Champions. Williams a downhill driver scored 12 points tonight. Williams will need to entertain junior college options according to the coaching staff.
