Underrated International Prospects (Continued)
In this article:
Igor Baratz, CGM Academy
Widely hailed as one of the top point guards in Poland (in all amateur classification levels), Baratz has a smooth play-making game. A true point guard, he’s able to hit scorers in stride and whiz passes to astonishingly wide open teammates. Having played on the 16U national team in Poland, he’s got the experience and battle-tested factors working in his favor. While developing into a knockdown shooter, Baratz is adept at slashing to the rim and pulling off nifty floaters through traffic. Best attribute of the Class of 2021 prospect’s game is his handle.
Yoro Sidibe, First Love
At 6-foot-7, Sidibe is an extremely long and active defensive presence. He can break up passes, convert turnovers into transition dunks, and create all types of disruption while guarding the 1-4. Has the potential to be a mid-major caliber recruit.
Matthis Sellin, TCA
Long and agile, Sellin is what many would describe as a late bloomer. A native of France, he came on late last year as a versatile three-four who can knock down shots and fly in for stickbacks. In becoming more proficient around the basket, he developed into a more capable rebounder and all around threat.
Michee Mianga, Believe Prep Academy
A bruising behemoth out of the Congo, many have attempted to recruit Mianga to play football. With bullish strength and the body of a fullback, he’s most effective at boxing out and grabbing rebounds. While he can score and take care of the dirty work down low, he must develop into more of a reliable scorer and look to shot and launch mid-range jumpers.
Would be a glove fit at a MEAC or NEC school as a 6-foot-5 forward.
David Appelgren, NTSI Orlando
The best part about the 7-foot-1 Appelgren’s game is that he’s new to being good. A product of Sweden, Appelgreen has only been seen a few times and missed NTSI’s Memphis Classic tournament last month. With a feathery jumper and the ability to knock down NBA 3-pointers, there is a wealth of upside in his game. He’s developing a better feel for the post game every day now. Could be a major steal at the Division-I level, assuming he continues to fly under the radar.
