Recruiting Report: Karl Wright (2019)
Springfield Lanphier 2019 power forward Karl Wright is an undersized four man that plays with a ton of energy and tenacity. Big fan of his athleticism around the rim. Elite bounce off the floor. Best when he dunks dump off passes and alley-oops. Runs the floor so hard! Very active on the glass on both ends and is a major shot blocking presence with timing. Offensively he isn’t very skilled at this stage. Probably best at a D2 program, but if the skill improves by next summer he could get a LM spot.
How is it going early in the season?
“I love my team and I like how we are playing and all the wins we are getting. It is like a family and we play together with the ball movement. It is fun when everybody tries. I feel like I am stepping up and talking on the floor more. Getting everyone on task. Pushing my team to do better.”
What has he been focusing on this season?
“Running the floor. I love running the floor. Defensively I have been working on sliding, blocking shots, on ball defense, and off ball defense.”
Wright played on one of the best 16U teams in the state last summer in the Illinois Irish.
“I love that team too. It was fun. We play together and I love winning with them. We worked hard and pushed each other.”
What is going on with recruiting.
“I have been talking to Tulsa. I visited Bradley. They have been texting me. Those are the main two.”
Bradley is a school that is monitoring him.
“I love the coaches. They are real nice. I like the school, weight room, and court. I like the team. They are all nice.”
Tulsa has also shown some interest.
“I like their vibe. It is positive vibes over there. They seem concerned about me and talking to me about my family. I liked that.”
