PHI Daily Dish: Howe runs past Herron
Yesterday’s Top Results:
A light schedule of nine games in Indiana yesterday but they still brought out some results that opened our eyes. Here’s a recap of a few of those games.
Wood Memorial 51, Washington 25
We thought that Wood Memorial would win pretty easily but we didn’t expect them to run over Washington like they did. This is more of an eye opener to the state of Washington basketball right now as Wood Memorial continues to take care of business.
Fort Wayne Wayne 65, New Haven 63
The best game of the night coming in didn’t disappoint. Close throughout, the home team pulled away in the end. Wayne gets a good win here as New Haven couldn’t convert on the last possession. Wayne now has a stretch of tough games as they visit Carroll and Marion in the next week.
Indianapolis Howe 117, Indianapolis Herron 71
This was a bit of a shocking scoring total by Howe. We know they could score this much but didn’t really think at this point in the season they would have three 100+ point games. Their press is causing havoc and tonight it resulted in a ton of easy buckets. Look for more results like this throughout the season.
Yesterday’s Top Performers:
Tony Hopkins (Howe) – 33 points
Craig Young (FW Wayne) – 25 points, 9 rebounds
Jamil Turner-Hall (Howe) – 24 points
Today’s Top Games:
Another day this week that has a small schedule as tonight there are only 13 games around the state. A couple teams are looking to boost their stock while others are trying to recover from a slow start. A few good games on the schedule as we preview those here.
Gary Roosevelt vs. Marquette Catholic
Both of these teams have one win this season but should have many more. Gary Roosevelt has played a tough schedule thus far and Marquette Catholic has let some games get away from them that they should have won. Whoever wins this game could be on their way to righting their ship before the season starts to spiral downward.
South Bend Washington vs. Penn
South Bend Washington has been a bit of a surprise jumping out to a 4-0 record. This game will really test them as Penn is undefeated as well. Penn hasn’t played anyone good, but neither has SB Washington either. A game to keep an eye on to see if SB Washington is for real.
Milan vs. Batesville
Milan is off to a hot 5-0 start and are gaining a little bit of attention in 2A. Tonight they travel to Batesville to take on a team that is much better than their record indicates. Batesville has lost in close games to Greensburg and Plainfield and look to improve their 1-3 record.
