Intro: Jabari Chiphe (2020)
Walter Payton 2020 shooting guard Jabari Chiphe is a 6’3” rangy two guard that will need to add strength long term, but has a lot of game. He is super smooth with the basketball handling getting to the hoop on slippery drives. Finishes at the rim with his athleticism. He is an active rebounder as well. Over the head release on his shot. Like the upside in this wing and is someone that is worth monitoring for low-major D1 programs early in the process.
How is the season going early on for the sophomore?
“I think it is going pretty well. There have been a couple games where we haven’t responded very well to adversity, but we are working on it. I think we are going to have a great season.”
He spoke about his individual play.
“I think I am playing pretty well. I need to be more aggressive offensively and cut down on turnovers.”
What does he do best out on the floor?
“My strengths are my work ethic and my defensive intensity. I am going to bring it every night.”
He ran with Made Men on the travel team circuit this past summer.
“It was a pretty good season. I thought I started pretty well and fell off toward the end. I have been working a lot on my offensive skill in the fall.”
Western Illinois has sent him some letters, but nothing significant on the recruiting trail yet. Definitely a prospect worth monitoring!
