Evaluations: La Lumiere vs. Brownsburg
In the best game of the night, La Lumiere got out to an early lead and didn’t give it up beating Brownsburg 66-45. Brownsburg played well in the second half and was able to keep pace early in the game. However, La Lumiere’s guard play was tough and ultimately won out. Emmanuel Miller scored 19 points and grabbed 4 rebounds to lead all players.
Cameron Alford – 6’1 PG 2019 – Brownsburg (IN) – Alford struggled early in this one but started to get going in the second half as his jumper started to fall. Being more of a drive-and-create guard, Alford being able to hit four jump shots in the 15-22’ range was big. Has to keep the confidence of his driving game. Looked a bit hesitant because of La Lumiere’s size but his game is built around that. In the end, Alford was able to get things going and could be set for a big game today. He finished with 17 points on 7/15 shooting.
Reis Thomas – 6’3 SF 2019 – Brownsburg (IN) – Reis is a big, strong forward player with a versatile game. At times in this game, Thomas looked strong with his post up as he drew a smaller Wojcik in the game. He had a hard time getting touches in the post because of La Lumiere’s length but when he did he was able to pass out of the high-post and make a few plays. Thomas finished with just 2 points but pulled in four rebounds.
Pierce Thomas – 6’3 SG 2021 – Brownsburg (IN) – Pierce is a tall guard with tons of athleticism. He was much better in this game than our first look against Arlington. He had more control of his jumper and knocked down an early three and then found more success using his athleticism on drives at the rim to combat La Lumiere’s length. Has to find a little more consistency in his jumper to balance out his offense but he’s already showing signs of adjusting. He finished with 8 points on 3/8 shooting.
Malek Edmonds – 6’6 PF 2020 – Brownsburg (IN) – Malek is a low post forward who is starting to really find himself. He was great in this game even though he gave up size by 3+ inches. Was really adept at getting his shot off with his rough hand. Was a bit predictable late in the game when the team was pressing but he also showed he can rebound well too. He elevates decently and has really good hands so if he can he to the ball, he isn’t giving it up. He finished with four points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
Emmanuel Miller – 6’7 SF 2019 – La Lumiere (IN) – Miller is a long, strong athlete with versatility and skill. He is built like a high-end wing and was good using back cuts and playing in transition. His size gives him a big mismatch most of the time and was able to show that in this game. Finished at a high rate due to his athleticism. Rebounding isn’t as big a part of his game right now as he’s more positioned on the wing than in the middle of the floor. He finished with 19 points on 8/11 shooting and grabbed four rebounds.
Tyger Campbell – 6’0 PG 2018 – La Lumiere (IN) – Tyger is a really shifty and strong point guard who can score the ball. He showed his toughness in this game as his jumper wasn’t falling and Brownsburg was pressing up on him. He had to use a lot of shake to get into the lane and then create contact for space and get the shot off. Campbell is a good passer as well with stellar vision. Found a ton of back cuts and alley-top opportunities where he was able to take advantage. Finished with 13 points on 4/11 shooting.
Isaiah Stewart – 6’9 PF 2019 – La Lumiere (IN) – Stewart is a big, thick post player with some mobility and good bounce in his game. Isn’t the most versatile post player with his lack of lateral mobility but north and south he is really good. Had a few alley-oops and was flying high all game. All of his game comes in the low post and he’s just physically overpowering with good touch as a shot blocker. He finished with 12 points on 6/7 shooting and grabbed 6 rebounds.
Paxson Wojcik – 6’5 SF 2019 – La Lumiere (IN) – Paxson is a very skilled wing scorer with good length and some mobility. Was solid defensively against a smaller, more physical offensive player. He got hot from behind the arc where he is at his best as a pure jump shooter. He knocked in 4/5 from behind the arc. Showed a big of his dribble-drive game when he put the ball on the floor with a pump fake an drive. He finished with 15 points and 2 rebounds.
