Lake Taylor –
Head Coach: Kenny Brown
Best Player: Joe Bryant Jr.
What You Need to Know:
After a heartbreaking buzzer beater by Smithfield to end last season, the Lake Taylor Titans look to put that to the past. With one of the best lineups in the 757, composed of Joe Bryant Jr., Dereon Seabron, Tyquan McNair and Jalen Jordan, the Titans should be a shoo-in to win the 4A state championship. In their first appearance of the season, a benefit game against rival Green Run, another senior, Tyrone Washington, also made an early emergence as another form of offense for the Titans. With a mature starting five, and a solid bench, the Titans are poised to be the best team the 757 has to offer.
Phoebus –
Head Coach: James Daniel Jr.
Best Player: Antwan Miles
What You Need to Know:
Staring arguably the best point guard the 757 has to offer in Antwan Miles II, and one of the best big men, Khyree Temple, the Phantoms post one of the best rosters in the 3A bracket. Miles, has the ability to facilitate any offense, but is also able to score at will on his own. With Temple, an athletic wing who came to Phoebus by the way of Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania, brings added athleticism on the wing for the Phantoms.
Western Branch –
Head Coach: Paul Hall
Best Player: BriQuan Harrell
The Bruins feature seniors, DJ Driscoll and Saiquan White, and juniors, All-Tidewater player, BriQuan Harrell and Kendall Bynum. A squad that finished fairly well last season, and made an decisive push into the 6A playoffs are a team to be on the lookout for. They are the best contenders to challenge Lake Taylor for the top spot.
Cape Henry –
Head Coach: Mark Hall
Best Player: Dajour Rucker
Cape Henry, staring big man, Dajour Rucker, who averaged almost 20 ppg last season. Forwards, Danny Banister, and Kellam transfer, Bryson Spell in addition to Rucker, make Cape Henry one of the bigger squads in the 757. Guards, Tommy Pope and Jacob Sobers make up the back court for the Dolphins, who should be expected to have a big season on the private school scene.
Bishop Sullivan –
Head Coach: Rick Barbosa
Best Player: Antwan Epps Jr.
Bishop Sullivan has added top PG, Antwan Epps Jr, from Granby, and big man, Kenan Sarvan, to a squad that already posted a pretty good roster. With a big win over Forsyth Country Day, the Crusaders look to be another hot team in the private school spectrum.
