Spotlight: C/O 2020 Julian Strawther
Julian Strawther, a class of 2020 SG/SF of Liberty high is a young man that has accepted the role of being a leader.
“This summer was really great,” he said. “It was my first year of the EYBL circuit and it felt like I proved I belong. Playing in the EYBL and events like the Peach Jam really got my name buzzing. I accomplished a lot this summer so it was really good.”
This young man is a 6’7 shooting guard that has the ability to shoot over his defenders. He runs the floor very well in transition and can absorb contact and finish at the rim. This Fall League Julian has played position 1 through 4 expanding his defensive skills set to become a better defender. “Defensively, I want to get more consistent and be able to guard the best player’s every game and have them on lockdown,” he said.
“I’m working on getting stronger, quicker, and getting my balance right. These are some of the things that will increase my ability to compete at a high level night in and night out.”
The beginning of this past AAU season, he was on the California United U15 Team. The team was dismantled for personal reasons, but he quickly found himself being moved up to play U16 which is where he started to play very well with many games above average. Ju Ju dropped 41 points on the New York Rens which is a very respected program on the circuit. He will be the focal point on his high school team. He will have to perform at a high level consistently due to the team’s lack of experience and sizes.
Recruiting Q&A:
Q. How is the recruiting process coming along?
A. Julian: The recruiting Process is going great. Just being in this position, I’m really blessed and honored. I am showing every school the same amount of love and interest. I am just enjoying the process.
Here are a few of the school’s that are looking at him. Julian’s father said, “I’m just making sure I keep him humble throughout this whole process.”
