SEC Red Preview
The SEC Red will be one of the most interesting leagues in Michigan. There is talent at all positions and a variety of playing styles from team to team. Just like last year, the championship will likely be decided in the last week of the season. As many as four teams have their eyes on a championship.
Predicted Order of Finish:
1) Ann Arbor Skyline
There is just so much talent here, including one of the deepest and most talented backcourts in the state. Skyline can score in bunches. If they can rebound and play consistent defense they are a threat to play for a state championship.
Brandon Wade (Senior, PG)
Jack Ammerman (Senior SG/PG)
Ryan Wade (Junior, SG/PG/SF)
2) Ann Arbor Huron
Huron is another SEC Red team with star power on the perimeter. That being said, it’s their versatility up and down the roster that makes them a threat to win the championship. They are a tough group both physically and mentally
Avery Lewis (Senior, F)
LJ DeWolf (Senior, G)
Lewis Willis (Senior, G)
3) Ann Arbor Pioneer
Pioneer also has star power in the backcourt. They also have some of the most underrated young talent in Michigan. Pioneer has as high of a ceiling as any team in the conference and if the incoming talent gels, they may be celebrating a conference title.
Drew Lowder (Junior, PG)
Mac Powell (Senior, C)
Daneko Harris (Junior, G)
4) Saline
The Hornets may not have as many big name players as the Ann Arbor schools, but they are a legitimate threat to win a conference championship. They play suffocating team defense that gives them a chance to win every game. If Saline finds a consistent scoring threat, they may be hoisting a trophy come seasons end.
Emmett Turner (Senior, F)
Connor Terech (Junior, F)
Erik Wenning (Senior, G)
5) Bedford
Bedford lost some critical pieces from last years team. That doesn’t mean they are to be ignored this season. They are disciplined, tough, and strong. If the incoming talent develops as it has in years past, they will give SEC Red teams headaches all season.
Zach Lewandowski (Senior, F)
Drake Smith (Senior, F)
Matt Kohler (Sophomore, G)
6) Monroe
Monroe is developing and making progress, it’s just hard to see in such a deep conference. They have a lot of players returning and look to make strides this year.
Cole Chappell (Senior, C)
Nicholas Kinsey (Senior, F/C)
