Recruiting Report: Levi Braun (2019)
Currently checking in as Kansas’ 14th-ranked 2019, 6-foot-3 combo-guard Levi Braun could be in line for a breakout season at Hayden this winter.
A heady player with a knack for making the right play, Braun has been with the varsity since his frosh season, and mentioned to PHKS what it is that makes him a top prospect in the state.
“I like to think that I have a really high basketball IQ; I understand the game, I can make the right play. My ability to shoot it is a strength, and I can attack my defender off the bounce. And, I’m solid on the defensive end,” said Braun.
“I just want to assert myself more as an athlete, get my rebounds up, maybe get some more steals and blocks, score more in transition, and just get up and down a little bit more.”
With his junior season starting next week, Braun says his role will expand greatly this season, and he’s ready to take on that added responsibility.
“I think I’ll have a bigger role this year. The first two years as an underclassmen I started a few games, but mostly came off the bench,” said Braun. “But this year, I’m most likely going to be a starter, and I’m just going to have to take everything to the next level.”
Some goals for the talented junior prospect: play well enough to receive some accolades, and get his first scholarship offer.
“Personally, this school year, I’d like to be recognized as one of the top performers in the state. And within the next year, you know, I haven’t gotten my first offer yet, so I’d like to pick one up,” said Braun, who mentioned which schools have reached out so far.
“There’s been a few schools; Washburn University has reached out to me, a couple of D3s and NAIAs, I think Rockhurst has been asking about me. The biggest one, after the Hardwood Classic, I think South Dakota asked about me.”
He added: “I imagine recruitment will pick up more in the spring. Hopefully this time next year, I’ll have some decisions to make.”
