Thought he’s one of the more formidable bigs in Kansas’ 2018 class, it’s football that Free State senior Jalan Robinson will likely pursue at the next level.
However, a 6-foot-4 center on the hardwood, Robinson did mention that if granted the opportunity, he’d love to play both sports at the level.
“Football is my main sport, and if I could I would try and do both in college, but football is my my main sport,” said Robinson.
“Football-wise, I’ve been talking to JuCo schools and a couple D2s. And a little bit recently, I’ve been talking to Missouri State. And for basketball, I’ve been talking to MidAmerica Nazarene, but that’s really it.”
With his senior season still ahead of him, and a potential big year with the Firebirds, Robinson says he’s hoping he can generate some more basketball interest, and see where it gets him.
“I’m just hoping to get some schools around Kansas to get in contact with me,” said Robinson. “And hopefully just watch how we play and see how I do throughout the season.”
With his workmanlike approach to the game, and his penchant for doing the little things to make his team better, it’s no wonder why Robinson checks in as a top-80 prospect in Kansas’ 2018 class.
“I think I make an impact mostly by moving around being aggressive on the offensive boards,” said Robinson. “I’m working on shooting better from the mid-range, that’s what I’m going to focus on this season.”
The Firebirds will begin their season on Dec. 2nd, and for Robinson, it could be a breakout one.
“I’m trying to improve more as a leader,” said Robinson. “Hopefully, this year, me and the rest of the seniors can lead our guys and do as well as we can.”
