Recruiting Report: Deveraux Davis (2018)
Hopkins guard Deveraux Davis is a player we at NHR noticed this summer playing consistently on the wing during the 17U season. He’s a definite sleeper to be aware of.
Davis spent a lot of his summer time working with arguably the greatest high school basketball player in Minnesota history.
“I trained with Mr. Khalid El- Amin who is a former national champion for the UConn Huskies,” David told Prep Hoops. “My junior year was a learning experience, I played Junior Varsity and I worked on my game.
“I also played AAU for Minnesota Phenom with Coach Nick Brock. I played well in summer and fall league tournaments for Hopkins High School.”
Hopkins is of course one of the most talented teams in the state and Davis has worked hard to be a part of a Hopkins team that will compete for the state title.
“My goal this off-season was being certain that I work hard and being mentally tough on the court. My goal is to become an asset to my team. I also worked on being conditioned so that I can perform well on the court.
“This season I want to work hard, be a good leader and help my team be successful. I’ve been working hard with Mr.Khalid on my ball handling, shooting, and using my athletic ability to make sure that I can meet the goals that I previously mentioned.”
“We have returning players that I respect and look forward to playing with. Our goal is to work hard and have a great season.”
Davis also mentioned that he’s heard from a few college programs so far.
“I’ve been contacted by division 2 and division 3 schools,” Davis said. “Hopefully, during the season I will be contacted by more schools.
“I haven’t taken any college visits as it pertains to basketball. Most of my college visits have been for academic purposes.”
