Prospect Spotlight: Jordan McGrath (2020)
After a strong summer playing for Kansas Pray N Play 15U squad, 2020 guard Jordan McGrath is gearing up for a breakout sophomore season at Independence High School.
Known for his outside shooting ability, the 5’10 McGrath and his Independence squad will open the 2017-18 season at the Emporia Tournament next week.
McGrath says he likes to shoot off the catch, but can also create his own shot off the dribble and takes pride in his defense.
He says competing for Pray N Play helped his confidence as he enters the high school season.
“This past year I grew more confident in myself and I have gotten quicker,” he said. “We have played in a lot of big tournaments this year including the Mullens. I hope to get interest and offers this summer and just to improve as a overall player.
“(This) season I am just looking foreword to playing elite competition. I want to prove that I can play with them. “
He says his mother has had the biggest influence on his basketball career to date.
“She has taken me to many basketball camps and she has taken time out of here life to help mine. She has taken me to the gym early in the morning and late at night,” he says.
A fan of Alabama freshman guard Collin Sexton, McGrath says he appreciates the energy he brings to the court.
“I like to watch Sexton because of the energy he brings in the game and the style that he plays,” McGrath says. “I try to bring as much energy to the game as I can and play the best defense I can.”
