Prospect Spotlight: Erik Farias (2019)
St. George’s star guard Erik Farias is a hidden gem coming out of Eastern Washington.
Farias is a pure shooter, leading his team as the starting point guard. He is scoring pretty easy this season, creating off the dribble for easy buckets for his teammates. He’s averaging 20.6 points per game, scoring a season high 33 points earlier this season.
“I have a high basketball IQ. I’m good at seeing the floor and seeing plays before they actually happen” said Farias.
Only a sophomore, Farias has some goals he wants to accomplish while he’s at St. George.
“My goals as a player are to lead my team to a state championship and break the all time scoring and assist record.”
Farias has a nice work ethic, always looking to work on his weaknesses and improve his strengths on the floor. He works on his shot daily, working on becoming more consistent.
“I’m looking to improve my perimeter game, especially off the dribble, becoming better at step backs and other elite moves to get my shot off.”
Sitting at 13-7 on the season, Farias looks to make a playoff push and continue working towards making a state championship appearance. He holds some interest from a few colleges.
“I’ve been receiving interest from Utah State, San Diego, Whitworth, and Willamette.”
Be on the look out for Farias as he continues to turn heads and make noise.
