Prospect Spotlight: Demarian Turmon (2018)
Many teams and players are anticipating break out seasons in 2017-2018. One prospect that is poised to have a big senior season is Demarian Turmon. He is a 5-8 point guard from Western International High School. He is ready to lead his team and himself to big seasons.
Demarian Turmon plays bigger than his height. He is strong getting the pass off a pick and roll. He likes to get to the basket and tries to draw fouls and finish through contact. Turmon is fast, and he uses this straight line speed on both ends of the court. This season, he is trying to improve his verbal leadership skills. Turmon is a high energy player that feeds off the excitement of the moment. “I look forward to playing any team. I believe you should give your all in every team you play,” he said.
This spring and summer Demarian Turmon prepared for the season by playing basketball every day. He even played recreation basketball in his off time to keep busy and active. Many hours were spent simply working out so he could enter season at his ideal weight.
Demarian Turmon wants to be an NBA player or to play professionally overseas. He’s also a serious student who is focused on going to college for accounting. Turmon’s source of motivation is both moving and inspirational: “My greatest motivation is when I see other basketball players get better. Also, my mom paying bills and struggling and my family being in the streets is my motivation. The community that I was born in is my motivation because I want to give back to the community.”
Demarian Turmon certainly has a demeanor and skill set that is valuable to a basketball coach. He will bring energy and toughness to his team. More importantly, he’ll provide a team first attitude. Turmon focuses making his team better by, “helping and getting everyone involved like a family.” Keep your eyes on this inspirational young man in the 2017-2018 season.
