Mr. Basketball Candidate: Tim Finke
In this series we take a look at the potential candidates for Mr. Basketball in the state of Illinois for this upcoming season. Here we profile Champaign Central 2018 shooting guard Tim Finke.
Profile:
Finke is a shooting guard out of central Illinois that has been known for a while. He was one of the top players when this class came into high school and he remains right there as one of the five best seniors as they are heading into their final high school seasons. Finke has quality size at 6’5” with the ability to score at multiple levels. Moves great without the ball to get open and also does the little things that sometimes go unnoticed, but help his team win. Last season he averaged 19.5 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 3.9 apg, while shooting 48% from the field.
Odds to Win:
12/1
Why He Can Win:
The Champaign Central senior is going to put up consistently stellar numbers throughout the season. He will stuff the stat sheet and more than likely have 30+ point games on a semi regular basis. Finke will be on one of the best teams in central Illinois and that will help him as he will rack up the votes in that area.
Obstacles to Win:
Finke is coming off a less than stellar July where he struggled shooting it. People are anxiously anticipating to see if he can find his stoke again. Will he have enough buzz to carry second and third place votes in other areas of the state?
