The Basketball Interview with Noah Jewett
Guard Noah Jewett has big plans for his senior year but before the games start he took us though some of his hoops memories.
At your school, what is your favorite part or parts about game days in terms of the routine leading up to the game?
NJ: Usually for home games, we go to someone’s house and eat a little before, it’s always nice because you get that bond build there.
What makes your crowd unique? What is a memorable thing that they’ve done that you will always remember?
NJ: Well our school is kind of small, so it kind of depends on the game. But my favorite memory is probably last year’s game against Dells. We’re rivals so both student sections really get into it and even he parents sometimes do
Who is your biggest rival and what about them makes the rivalry both heated and memorable?
NJ: I wouldn’t say I really have a rival. Because really in the Dak 12 everyone is your rival, because every time is usually good and you have to bring it every night
Who is your favorite basketball player in the world and why?
NJ: Right now I’d say it’s probably Kyrie Irving. He’s always so poison when it’s crunch time, when the team needs a bucket you look to him. He has some pretty good handles and you don’t really hear about him too much on ESPN, he keeps his name out of the media. Plus he’s from Duke!
Explain the relationship varsity players have at your school with youth players.
NJ: We usually have a lot of young kids at our games and I feel that is as varsity players are held to higher standards, because those kids are always watching you and they want to be like you, so whatever you do they want to do. Because I remember being one of those young kids and whenever I’d watch at high school game I’d always think that I wanted to be like those kids.
What was the best advice you’ve received from a coach?
NJ: I’ve gotten a lot of great advice from a lot of great coaches. I wouldn’t say that I have a favorite/best one, but I just take it all and use what they are saying in the game or whatever I’m doing.
NBA. Who is your team?
NJ: I don’t really have a team. I just like to watch certain players and learn from there game and try to transfer it to my game.
