Team Preview – The Franklin Program
Prep Hoops SC and Swanny’s Roundball Review took in the action at the Flight 22 Showcase in Greensboro, NC yesterday. Prep Hoops SC takes a look at the Franklin Program located out of Greenville, SC. The Franklin Program has many former South Carolina players on this years roster.
Sa’Quel Pepper played his high school basketball at Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS. Pepper 6’2 combo guard is a extremely athletic guard who excels in the transition game. Pepper rebounds the ball very well for a guard. Pepper played AAU with the Manning Gators back in the spring.
Tawon Buie 6’0 guard played at Charleston Math & Science in high school. Buie played this summer on the AAU Circuit with the Port City Stars. Buie averaged 17.9 ppg last season in high school. Buie has a quick first step to the basket and get by defenders.
Marquis Collins is a strong guard that can explode to the basket. Collins looks to overpower defenders with his game. Collins who played at Goose Creek HS. Collins had plans to attend USC-Salkehatchie out of high school but opted to go the prep school route.
DeAnte Kershaw played at nearby Gaffney HS for legendary Head Coach Mark Huff. Kershaw 6’1 guard got into the gaps today and found the open man in transition.
Rico Williams 6’5 played from block to block today for Franklin Prep. Williams set plenty of screens and rebounded ball well on both ends of the floor. Williams played high school ball at Eastside HS (Taylors) just outside of Greenville.
The Franklin Program is under the direction of Head Coach Franklin Mattison. Mattison coached last season at St Ignatios Prep before starting his own program this coming fall. The Franklin Program will play later this month at the 3rd Annual Swanny’s Jamboree in Myrtle Beach.
The event will consist of 32 teams and all games will be played in the 8 court facility at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center.
