Here is a look at some of the biggest recruiting news in the state for the past week.
Dotson Chooses Kansas
One of the top point guards in the country and PrepHoopNC’s #2 recruit for the 2018 class Devon Dotson chose Kansas University on Friday over Maryland in a ceremony at his high school. The Providence Day senior will come into Lawrence, Kansas next season and take over the point guard duties from another North Carolina standout, Devonte Graham. Graham was recently selected as the Big 12 Conference Pre-Season Player of the Year. Dotson helped lead Providence Day to the 2016 NCISAA 3-A state title and helped Team Charlotte to a second place finish on the Under Armor circuit.
Stone Gets First ACC Offer
Christ School sophomore forward Brandon Stone picked up an offer from Pittsburgh on an unofficial visit to the school on Friday. On Saturday, Stone unofficially visited West Virginia University. Mountaineer Head Coach Bob Huggins is expected in at Christ School over the next two weeks to watch Stone more closely.
Williamson To Announce This Week
One of the top unsigned guards in the state, Daivien Williamson of Winston-Salem Prep told PrepHoopNC’s Justin Byerly that a decision is coming this week. Williamson recently took an unofficial visit to East Tennessee State University and will choose between Wofford and East Tennessee State for his college destination. James Madison and Drexel are also in the picture to land the tough scoring guard.
Moore Gets Duke Offer
The top-ranked player in the PrepHoopNC 2019 class, Wendell Moore of Cox Mill High School was offered a scholarship from Duke University on Friday night. The 6-foot-5 wing helped lead The Chargers to a NCHAA 3-A state title last season. This year UNC commit Rechon Black returned back to his hometown of Concord, North Carolina to team up with Wendell Moore for his final season.
