Recruiting Report: Treye Tucker (2019)
Treye Tucker is a flashy 2019 point guard from Harlem High School. He is transferring over after playing at Christian Life. The junior is a creative ball handler that gets where he needs on the floor to get things done. Isn’t afraid at all to take it right at the big guys to make plays in the lane for himself and others. Plus passer that makes some spectacular dishes. Range on jump shot. Should be on the D1 radar.
He spoke about his summer with Team RWA playing 16U.
“It was good. It was a learning curve. A lot of our 16s got offers. It was a good momentum shift from the beginning of the season to the end. We really came together toward the end of the season. I have been a scoring point guard for school ball and my whole life so transitioning to RWA I have players that are just as good around me so getting guys around me the ball and getting assists to great players improved.”
Tucker broke down the decision to transfer to Harlem for his junior campaign.
“Academically it is a big shift. Christian Life didn’t have some of the stuff I needed to graduate and be NCAA approved. Also they have the new coach with Mike Winters who is one of the top coaches in Rockford and the state. That is where I grew up and all my friends are there.”
Where do things stand on the recruiting front for the 2019 point guard?
“Northern Illinois came to one of our open gyms. Winthrop has been contacting me. Air Force and Montana. Stetson obviously. Appalachian State too.”
He holds an early offer from Stetson.
“They are on the ball. They came to all my games in Atlanta and are constantly texting me and see what I am doing. I like that a lot.”
