Recruiting Report: Parker Edwards (2018)
Still with his senior season left to generate some recruitment, 6-foot-3 guard Parker Edwards expects to add to his current Southeastern offer, and give himself some options as he heads into the decision-making process.
The St. Paul’s senior received an offer from Southeastern during his 16U summer, and plans to take an official visit to the school sometime soon. Other schools are still recruiting him still, and he’s hoping that interest turns into more offers.
“I’ve still got Northwestern State, New Orleans, and a few D2s are recruiting me. So, hopefully I’ll get a few more offers this season,” said Edwards.
“D1, D2 it doesn’t really matter. I just want to play, so wherever the perfect fit is, it doesn’t really matter. I just need to visit a couple schools, and see which one I like best, and take it from there.”
A combo-guard with decent size, Edwards mentioned that he’s been working to sharpen his point guard skill-set. And he’s dropped some weight, making him a more agile threat.
“I’ve really worked on my ball-handling and just conditioning and strength. I’ve dropped about 20 pounds trying to get faster and lighter on my feet, and I think I’ve done that. And my ball-handling has improved a lot since the spring,” said Edwards, who spent his 17U season with New Orleans Elite.
Now, with his senior season on the horizon, Edwards will take on more of a leadership role than ever before, in more ways than one.
“I think I’ve really stepped into the leadership role now that I’m a senior. And I think everything else will come from that leadership role, whether that’s scoring or other things,” said Parker. “And I’ll just have to do whatever it takes to get the win.”
