Recruiting Report: Noah Schon (2018)
A cerebral and good-sized wing, East Lansing’s Noah Schon is still a very much available prospect in Michigan’s 2018 class, and is looking forward to what could be a breakout senior season.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard is one of the state’s standout student athletes, and has seen some Ivy League interest come his way because of it.
“I’ve talked to a lot of different schools from all over the place. I’ve talked to couple Ivy League schools like Brown and Harvard,” said Schon. “I’ve also talked to Hillsdale and Lewis, and Cornerstone I’ve talked with some, too.”
Schon mentioned that the Ivy interest is something that’s come as a result of his academic prowess, and he’d be very interested in looking into those situations more.
“My parents have always stressed the importance of academics, and they always said that came before anything else. I have a 4.0 GPA and I got a 32 on the ACT, so that put me in a position to be able to play at a lot of different schools,” said Schon.
“I am interested in the Ivy Leagues, I’d be interested in seeing what my role would specifically be and what type of playing time I’d get. But that’s definitely something I’d be interested in.”
A sharpshooter, who isn’t afraid to do some dirty work, Schon defined his specific skill-set to PHMI.
“My biggest strength is my shooting, I feel very confident that I’m one of the best shooters in the state. I can knock it down from anywhere, including several feet beyond the arc,” said Schon.
“And I just try and do the little things, I try and rebound well for my size and just make plays for my teammates as best I can.”
After a summer spent honing his skills with Michigan Titans 17U, Schon now heads into his senior season with the Trojans.
“Last year, I was used more as a scorer off the bench because we had a lot of good seniors. And this year, I’m expecting to start and I’ll probably be the number two scoring option behind Brandon (Johns),” he said.
“We’re just looking to build on the last couple years, and make a run at state championship.”
As for his recruitment, Schon could have a breakout senior season, and hopes to nab plenty of additional interest because of it.
“I’m just hoping for people to notice me more,” he said. “I’ve always been a glue guy that does a lot of little things. But this season I want to be a main guy for the team, and be noticed by a lot of (college) coaches.”
