Recruiting Report: Nathan Childress (2019)
Zionsville is one of the better programs in the state and tends to develop a lot of under-the-radar talent. They have a few on their roster now but maybe the one that has come to light the most since the end of last season is 2019 forward Nathan Childress.
The 6’6 forward is an intriguing prospect who provides quite a bit on both sides of the ball. He’s very agile and has quite a bit of athleticism to his game and on defense, paired with his height, he can defend much bigger players while still being able to come out and hedge up top when needed. On the offensive side of the ball, he has just enough ball handling ability to create in the mid-range and score. He likes to play faced up and can be a pain to guard like that.
He was a part of a stellar Indiana Elite Metro 2019 team that were able to put up some big offensive games. They were very competitive even against a higher level of talent and that has seemed to spark his recruitment a little here as just a Junior. Schools like Bethel College, Morehead State, Holy Cross, Bellarmine, Marian University, and Missouri Western have been in contact.
Childress has already been on a visit to Bethel College. He took in the standout NAIA program out of Mishawka, Indiana recently saying “it was very informative” and “I really like Coach Lightfoot, seems like a good coach.”
This winter, he will join back up with Zionsville as they seem as loaded as every and have enough talent to be among the top teams in the state in 4A.
