Recruiting Report: Landon Wolfe (2019)
Effingham 2019 small forward Landon Wolfe is one of my favorite players to watch in southern Illinois. He plays about as hard as any wing in the state. This kid is a fierce competitor. He has a versatile scoring game and is just a bucket getter! Great strength finishing around the hoop. He has tremendous body control at the rim and knows how to finish through traffic. Doesn’t look like he is the most athletic, but he definitely has blow by ability off the bounce if you don’t respect it. In addition to his scoring in the paint his three point jumper is a major weapon. Wolfe is a sound shooter from beyond the arc both off the catch and pulling up in transition. Very active player that dives after loose balls and has a knack for getting on the glass. Wolfe is a low-major/D2+ prospect.
How was July with the Illinois Bears?
“July went pretty good. We played well as a team like usual. We shared the ball. We play well as a team and won a lot of games.”
He personally had a strong summer on the circuit.
“I feel I excelled scoring. My three point shot has improved as I hit a lot of threes. I think my ball handling and vision got a lot better. I thought I played well in July.”
With the graduations of two all-area players it will be Wolfe’s team at Effingham this season!
“This year we know we lost a lot, but still have really high expectations. We have some kids that can play. I think we will be more athletic than last year, but obviously we lost Grant (Wolfe) and Jacob (Donaldson). I think we will be good.”
One college has reached out to him to this point.
“The only school I have heard from is Air Force. They have talked to me about my GPA and what I have heard about their program.”
Wolfe is the #38 overall prospect in 2018 and #11 small forward in the class.
