Recruiting Report: Kalu Stricklin (2018)
Seattle Prep wing Kalu Stricklin is ready to take his game to the next level.
Stricklin is an explosive wing, who can take guys off the dribble and make plays for strong finishes at the rim or set up his teammates. He has a solid jump shot and can hit open looks, mainly in the mid-range area. He is a really good defender, working hard to stay in front of opposing guards and communicating on defense. He brings high energy on the defensive end and it rubs off on his teammates.
“My favorite player is LeBron, but I try and model my game after Kawahi Leonard. He’s a quiet leader who has the ability to be a defense stopper or he can be the leading scorer. He’s a guy who just wants to make winning plays for his team.”
Stricklin is very focused going into his final AAU circuit, playing for Friends Of Hoop. He plans on improving his shot and handles, so he can come back his senior year ready to make a state championship push.
Stricklin isn’t being recruited as much as he wants to be yet, but he hopes to turn things around entering his final summer.
“I’ve been in contact with Eastern Washington, Seattle University, and Cal Poly”
With good size and great skill, Kalu is able to score in a variety of ways, but says his sharpshooting ability is his best strength.
“I consider myself a playmaker, and I’m a knockdown shooter. If I get an open look it’s basically an automatic bucket,” he said.
“I can drive and kick to my teammates, I can get to the cup, and I can rebound. I like to get out in transition too. Basically I can do a little bit of everything.”
