Recruiting Report: Josh Christensen (2018)
Utah’s 12th-ranked 2018, 6-foot-5 small forward Josh Christensen is still very much available, and heading into his senior season ready to turn some heads.
The Corner Canyon prospect says it’s been an array of interest come his way up to this point, but mostly JuCo.
“Right now I have interest from junior colleges all the way up to D1. And mainly it’s junior colleges and Division II schools,” said Christensen.
“There’s an (NAIA) school from (Montana) called Carroll College, there’s a school called McCook (NE). There’s Casper College, Western Wyoming.”
He added: “I would love to receive a scholarship from a Division II college or a JuCo college, whatever it may be. That’s really what I’m striving for.”
A slasher before anything else, Christensen broke down his playing style — strengths and weaknesses — to PHUT.
“My strengths would be driving first, and then shooting second. And my biggest weakness right now would be posting up,” said Christensen.
“Right now I’m just working on my jump-shot and getting that more consistent, and then defense.”
As he prepared for his final high school season, Christensen spent his spring and summer playing with one of the state’s best grassroots teams, Utah Hard Knox 17U
“It was a pretty good season, I was the second leading scorer on the team. And as a team we did pretty well,” he said.
“I thought I had a pretty good season this year. What I thought I did well was improving my offensive skill-level; having higher scoring games and getting a lot more assists.”
Now, his senior season is here, and the goal is to simply be a versatile playmaker.
“This year, we actually have a pretty good team, we’re well-rounded at every position. My role will be to be a leading scorer, and a go-to guy,” said Christensen.
“And on my team, I play one through four; so I’ll be the guy that can do a little bit of everything to help the team.”
