Recruiting Report: Jesse Bingham (2019)
When looking at the development of a player during his high school years, the freshman season is more about finding the guys to watch, sophomore year is about letting the process happen, and their junior year is when you hope to see that development take hold and things start coming together. Right now, maybe no other player in the state has put it together in the 2019 class than Warren Central (IN) wing Jesse Bingham.
Bingham, a 6’6 wing forward, has all the tools to really stand out in the 2019 class as he’s long, lean, and athletic. But he is all of those things and more. Jesse showed with Indiana Elite Fastbreak 2019 this summer that he can be a very highly skilled player who can handle the ball and score on the perimeter and in the lane. He’s very adept at driving with the ball for his size and has good touch on his shot from 12’ and in where he becomes near impossible to matchup with when it is all working.
He’s got a lot of room to grow but is still very good as it is. He’s a guy that is going to be able to rise through the rankings and boards quickly this fall and winter because his ability now and projection moving forward show a prospect that can do a lot more with his game. That has already draw in quite a few schools.
To date, Youngstown State, Indiana State, Evansville, Bradley, Miami (OH), and Indianapolis have all take a look at the Eastside Indianapolis prospect. This past weekend, he went to Youngstown State for their Junior Day, his second trip on campus so far.
“I have a good relationship with the coaching staff,” Jesse said of Youngstown. “Their play style fits me as a player and my skill set. I feel like I could be successful in their system.”
Even with all that is going on with his basketball game, Jesse is a high-academic student as well and that sort of combination will continue to draw the eye of bigger and bigger programs as his name gets out there more. This high school season could bring with it his first scholarship offer and it could be the starting point of a big junior season for Bingham.
