Recruiting Report: Jackson Tanner (2019)
Jackson Tanner is a 2019 big man prospect that we are fans of. The Latin 6’7″ post is a power forward that has a high skill level and good size. Excellent frame that he should continue to improve on his next three years of high school. High skill on the block with an array of hook shots and post moves. Finishes well around the hoop. Challenges opponents at the rim on the defensive end and is an outstanding rebounder. Defends well in a ball screen and can cut an occasional passing lane. He spoke about his summer on the grassroots circuit.
“The summer went well. I ran with Young & Reckless and they are a really good team. I was great to play with such amazing basketball players. I got better with them. It was a great experience. I improved a lot on shot blocking and protecting the rim. Overall toughness. I learned more about reading the game and passing. How to thread the needle.”
What are the best assets in his game at this stage?
“I think my touch around the basket is pretty good. My rebounding especially my offensive rebounding.”
He chatted with us about this upcoming season at Latin.
“We are really excited about our 2020 class and how they are going to make an impact. We have all our starters returning. I am pretty excited and open gyms have been very competitive.”
Where do things stand with recruiting?
“Holy Cross came by our school. I have been to a lot D3 camps. Johns Hopkins and Vassar said that I was #1 on their list for 2019. The camps I have been to are Johns Hopkins, Vassar, Williams, and Amherst.”
