Recruiting Report: Jackson Connor (2020)
Marion 2020 forward Jackson Connor was a prospect that we hadn’t seen since the spring. He showed improvement in a number of areas when we evaluated him this fall. The first was his body condition. The Marion sophomore forward is starting to add strength and lose some of the baby fat he had on him in the spring. He also showed quite a bit more athleticism than we had seen in previous evaluations of the sophomore. Seemed much lighter on his feet and finished several transition dunks with ease. His handles have improved off the bounce and is a quality shooter with a clean looking stroke from three. Quick release. Good rebounder. Undersized for the four position in college so he is making efforts to become a three and is definitely seeing strides in that department.
Where has his game grown since last season?
“I think it has grown a lot. Defensively, ball handling, and shooting. Everything really. I feel I have matured physically getting a lot stronger and faster.”
He spoke about preparing for next high school season with Marion.
“Open gyms are going good. We got a new coach. He knows a lot about the game. Our expectations for this season are to win as much as possible. We have four seniors starting.”
Where does he see himself fitting in with this team?
“Scoring the ball and doing what I am supposed too.”
Nothing too significant on the recruiting front, but several D1’s have shown preliminary interest in the forward.
“I am getting letters from SIU, Western Illinois, UIC, and Evansville.”
