Recruiting Report: David Ejah (2019)
David Ejah – 6’7” | W/F | Team Teague 2019 | Fort Wayne Carroll High School
David Ejah is a name that will start circulating more and more as he progresses through high school. Ejah has been playing organized basketball for four years and is starting to hit his stride in terms of realizing his potential. David attends Fort Wayne Carroll High School where he plays his school ball and played with Team Teague 2019 this past summer. He is one of the quickest developing players in the Class of 2019 and really has the ability to start turning some heads here soon.
“I’ve really been working on my ball handling in game situations and becoming more comfortable handling the ball under pressure.” Ejah started having a big impact last season around the basket on both offense and defense. Throughout the year he became more comfortable stepping away from the basket and putting the ball on the floor. That has been one of his major focuses in the offseason and will add another element to his game.
David is great as an interior defender with his length and athleticism. He has good timing on blocking shots and really competes well on both backboards.
“Workouts have been going great. Everyone is competing at a high level and always pushing each other.” David is using this time to work on his decision making in the open floor and attacking the basket. He has the ability to get by the first defender and has been working on his secondary reads in open gym settings.
He has made a small adjustment in his shooting form in the past year that will make him more effective from deep. David used his shooting ability to his advantage throughout the summer, pulling bigger defenders away from the basket. He finishes high above the rim in transition and is starting to become a prolific slasher from the wing.
Ball State University has taken notice of the rising junior and attended a workout to see him in live action. They are going to keep an eye on him throughout the season. David is looking to turn more heads this season as he showcases the developments that he has been making. He’s looking to be an all-around threat for the Chargers this year.
“My team goal for this season is just to help my team win as many games as possible and hopefully compete for a State Championship in March. Individually, I want to be an Indiana Junior All-Star and hopefully get more colleges recruiting me soon.”
David is looking to get into the engineering field and has interest in Mechanical and Computer Engineering. He wants to find a program that is positive with their players and pushes them to be the best they can be even on their off days.
As David continues to expand his offensive game and add strength to his long and athletic frame, he will be a player to watch in the Fort Wayne area. He’s just beginning to make a dent in his potential and is starting to understand what it takes to take his game to the next level.
Keep David Ejah of Carroll High School on the radar heading into the 2017-2018 season.
