Recruiting Report: Cobie Barnes (2019)
The Indiana Elite 2019 team was one of the best in the entire country this past year. One of the reasons for it’s success was their talented forward group. They had a trio who all really brought different things to the table.
Floyd Central (IN) forward Cobie Barnes has been one of those guys for a while now and he continues to develop as time moves forward. He’s been a guy that has the body to overpower defenders and still provide that mismatch ability as he can stretch out to three while still being a productive player in the post.
Over the last year, we have seen Barnes become a little more composed from the offensive side of the ball. His jumper is still progressing and he’s become more physical on the block showing his ability to post up or face-up in the 15’ and in range. All that is playing up as he’s been as consistent in his effort level as any you will find in the class. A very smooth and consistent player.
With regards to his recruitment, Barnes is starting to see things pick up as he really has seen a new level of program take hold. His current offer list now boasts offers from Evansville, IUPUI, and Indiana State. Some new schools like Belmont, Xavier, George Washington, and now Nebraska.
College programs will be more intrigued with him as he becomes a bigger class priority in the coming year. He’s not a super high-end prospect that is going to draw in those blue bloods but he will draw in a wide array of interest as his size and versatility make him a special talent. This is a big high school season as he tries to lead Floyd Central to another big year before stepping back with Indiana Elite 2019 next summer.
