A quarterback on the gridiron and a standout on the hardwood, Ogden senior Carson White will have some decisions to make in the near future…about his future.
The 6-foot-2 guard is in the middle of his football season now, but we caught up with him recently to talk about recruitment, his upcoming senior season, and which spot he prefers: football, or basketball.
“It’s really hard picking between them, but I do love basketball, and being able to be close to my teammates,” said White.
“And I think I’m probably a little bit better at basketball, and so this next season hopefully I can get a little more attention (from college coaches).”
Utah’s 56th-ranked 2018, White says there has been no recruitment coming in for basketball.
“I do have a little bit of attention for small schools in football, but nothing for basketball. So, hopefully this season, I can have a good year and pick up some basketball interest,” said White.
“I’d really love to play anywhere. Obviously, it’d be fun to play at a higher level, but that might be tough because I have no interest now. Any interest, or anything at all would be great.”
A slasher with some decent size for a guard, White went on to define his playing style to PHUT.
“I think of my strengths would definitely be getting to the hoop and dishing it off to one of my teammates. I definitely have a knack for getting to the hoop off the dribble, and also a my jump-shot is pretty solid,” he said.
“And, I’m just kind of a hustler. I’m not the most skilled person, but I definitely give more effort than anyone out on the court.”
With his senior basketball season starting up very soon, White gave a quick synopsis of what to expect from him and the Tigers this winter.
“This year, since we graduated some players, I’m going to have to score more than I have in the past. Last year, I averaged about 12 points per game, and hopefully I can get that up to 18-20,” said White.
“And I’ll definitely have to be the senior leader that we need, we graduated five seniors, so I’ll have to take on that role.”
