Recruiting Report: Bryce DesArmo (2018)
With his senior season just weeks away, Castle Rock 6-foot-3 shooting guard Bryce DesArmo is more eager than ever to showcase his improved skill-set and increased confidence.
Still with little recruitment coming in, DesArmo says this winter he’ll see that spike. And whether it’s D3, JuCo or higher, DesArmo’s goal is just to play at the next level, wherever he can.
“There hasn’t been a lot of recruitment, because I was hurt a little last season and again during the spring. But there’s a couple schools I’m talking to low-key right now,” said DesArmo.
“I’m hoping this season will be a breakout one for me. And it might be that I have to go to a community college first to pursue my goals to go to a bigger college. But, I know this season will be huge for me.”
The good-sized and talented prospect went on to name particular schools he’d like to see reach out to him.
“Some schools around here that I like are St. Martin’s, Portland, Portland State, it’d be cool to try and walk-on at like Eastern Washington or a school like that. Or maybe Hawaii-Hilo, or Central Michigan because I have some connections out there,” said DesArmo.
“I’m just trying to hoop wherever I can hoop. And obviously everyone’s dream is to go to a big school, but I’m a realist, and I know I’m not going to Duke or anything like that.”
His senior year is off to a nice start, and DesArmo says he’s averaging 25-30 points per game in fall league with the Rockets.
“I’ve spent all summer working on my ball-handling every morning and every night. I developed a post game and midrange game. I’ve worked a lot on my vertical; I went from barely being able to dunk, to being able to windmill,” said DesArmo.
“And my IQ went up a lot because I played a lot of basketball this summer, and that really helped a lot.”
And after a moderately successful season as a junior, DesArmo is ready to take his game to new heights this season.
“Things are going to be a lot different this season; I’m a completely different player, with a completely different mindset,” said DesArmo.
“We’re just going to go out there and win games, and I’m going to be a leader and a captain to my guys, because last year that was something that I lacked.”
